Lodge is the smallest of our cottages and is ideal for couples or small families. Originally the gate house on the private road to the castle, this comfortable property has been refurbished to Visit Scotland ‘4 Star’ standard, whilst retaining much of its traditional charm and character. There are steps to the entrance which leads into a small but well equipped kitchen and through into a cosy sitting room with dining area and open fire.
There are two bedrooms, one twin and one double, the latter having a 5ft bed and a wash-hand basin. Both bedrooms have built in wardrobe units. The bathroom has a wash-hand basin, toilet, and large walk-in shower.
Heating is by electric on-demand heaters in the sitting room and bedrooms. The fire, when lit, warms the entire house! Some logs are supplied, with further logs available at minimal cost.
Outside, the garden is secluded and with a well-kept area leading into more natural woodland with a banking leading down to the river below. Being south-facing the garden is quite a suntrap on a sunny afternoon. Although there is no sea view, being close to woodland, it is a good place to look for visiting red squirrels, pine martens and birdlife. Beyond are grazing fields, woods and hills and easy access to some wonderful walking, with just a ten minute walk down to the shore..
