Dogs are very welcome to join you when you come to stay at Ardmaddy, though they must be kept under control to avoid disturbing the nature (e.g. ground nesting birds) and the livestock as the estate is a working sheep and cattle farm. There are some spectacular dog walks all around the estate.
Please ensure that your dogs are on leads whenever appropriate and under control at all times.
We welcome well-behaved dogs to stay in our cottages, for a surcharge of £30 per dog. A dog bag with bowls for water and food, and a towel are provided.
As sadly we have had some visitors whose dogs have been allowed to cause damage in the cottages please will you ensure that your dog is clean and dry before coming into the cottage and that you do NOT allow dogs on the furniture, NOR in the bedrooms. Please only allow your dogs into the main living areas and preferably keep them in the boot rooms at night. Also, please would you collect any messes when out walking.

Here is what our canine visitors have said about their Ardmaddy holidays.
“our boxer thinks this was some kind of canine heaven, with all the different walks.”
“There is always his doggy bag awaiting for him when we arrive. It is so nice that dogs are made to feel so welcome.”
“special provisions for your dogs such as towels, blankets, bowls are there so you don't have to pack your own”
“As for our dogs....well my anxious boy (who usually takes a few days to adjust to being away from home), waded straight into the sea with a big grin on his face and then tried to avoid having to leave the water all week (apart from coming in at night to collapse in front of the woodburner with a contented sigh). Another of my dogs actually refused to get in the car on the morning we left. Can't say as I blame her - I could hardly bear to leave it myself.”
